Starting and Using the Live Tote Board

QuickDog's Live Tote Board allows you to see a Live Tote Board in a brand new way.  Rather than looking throughout the board for your selections, the data on the live tote is listed based on the order of your handicapped selections.  The result is a faster look at your selections so that you can more quickly determine whether a wager is worth the risk.

Figure 1 - Selecting Start Live Tote Board

The process of accessing the Live Tote Board is simple enough.  Simply select it.

You then notice that certain race programs from within your database are accessed and handicapped.  This can take a few seconds.  These correspond to those events actually taking place right now.  Of course if there are no events going on, QuickDog will simply tell you that as well rather than start up the Live Tote Board.

Figure 2 - Current List of Tracks LIVE!

After handicapping all the races necessary a list of up to 16 Tracks in order based on Minutes to Next Post Time are shown.  Notice Mardi Gras has 5 Minutes to Post (5 MTP), and the other two tracks are currently 15 MTP.

Other info for Mardi Gas is that it is Race 2, an A race running 660 yards.  Notice also the number 54.5 and 99 at the end of that same race line information.  This means that the last time a BACKTEST was used to check the accuracy of the Track Profile being used (in this case, this track profile involved a 4 dog box wager), this method won 54.5 % of the time over the last 99 races of this type (Grade A Distance 660yds).  The same type of wager was only 39% successful over the past 164 Grade E Distance 550 yd races at Daytona Beach.  Which race are you more interested in looking closer at?  Obviously this live tote board can highlight races you might want to bet online.

The "---------------" indication for Palm Beach indicates that a J race hasn't been tested for accuracy.

Also shown are the Total Pools including Win/Place/Show and Exacta/Quinielas.

Finally, notice that the data consists of 2 lines which show the QuickDog selections by post position, and the corresponding live odds.

This line of live odds appears to be jumbled if you are used to looking at odds listed in Post Position Order, but this list is not jumbled, rather it is in the order of the selections made by QuickDog for this race!  So you can quickly see that your first couple of picks are going off at long or short odds.

Let's now "drill down" to the race specifics and see money pools and Exacta Odds.  Simply click on an entry.  For the purposes of this tutorial we'll select  Daytona Beach by clicking on it, then move the mouse to the Top of the display over the button which says "TOTEBOARD".  Why are two clicks necessary?  Because you can do different things with each track including selecting "VIDEO" to see Race Video.

Figure 3 - Reading the Live Tote Board

Because there are so many combinations for Trifecta or Superfecta wagers these can not be shown.  The Exacta and Quiniella Payoffs along with the pool for each is shown.  Also the Pool Values for each dog's Win/Place/Show are shown.  The data will update about once every 20 seconds or so.

Clicking the Right Mouse Button will return you to the Tote Board List of Tracks.  Press the Right Mouse Button.

Figure 4 - Accessing the Video for Daytona Beach

Notice as a race gets closer to post time, the color of that line changes from white to green and eventually it will turn red.

Watching

Click on Daytona Beach, then click on Video to display Figure 5.

Figure 5 - Video Options

You can program QuickDog to display the video a certain time before the race.  Or you can display the video now.  Most tracks provide a live video of the races broadcasted over the internet.  Go ahead and select the "...Current Track's Video".

Figure 6 - Looking at Live Video at Daytona

Once the results of the race are made official QuickDog will show the results on its tote board and also display the early odds for the next race - See Figure 7.

If we'd wagered on this race, using a Box 4 Exacta, and a $2 wager, the wager would have cost $24 but the payoff was $52.  We'd have done ok!

We know that many users will already have an account with an online wagering site and that site will provide a live tote board.  However you may find that our Live Tote Board allows you to comprehend more information faster.

To exit the Live Tote Board, you simply click the Right Mouse button until you are returned to the Handicapping Screen.

Even though you exit the Live Tote Board it may still be running in the background so that it quickly responds the next time you select it.  So don't be surprised if you EXIT QuickDog and you see the message "LIVE TOTEBOARD SHUTTING DOWN".
