Setting up DogPak

Quickdog can download race data and that race data can be exported to programs such as DogPak, a very popular and free program written years ago.  If you would like to use DogPak, then you should go to our forum and ask to see if any users there can provide a copy of DogPak for you - click here.

Figure 1 - Selecting the DogPak Setup feature

Setting QuickDog up for exporting to DogPak is quite simple.  You simply click on the feature "DogPak Setup", then select the button labeled "I WANT MY PPs FRESH FROM THE CHARTS".  QuickDog will now produce a past performance line as it processes a results (chart) file.  Typically QuickDog doesn't do this when it converts data, and its a bit faster because it doesn't need to perform this step.  So, if you do select this feature, you may notice the the database features take a bit more time.  It would be hard for you to tell, however.

Once you select this button, QuickDog will simply make that setting, and return you to the handicapping page.  The next time you download data, QuickDog will take this extra step for each racing chart downloaded.  Everything is done for you automatically.  If you do not use this selection, the QuickDog will post a result line to the database the next time that dog runs a race.  So eventually the result will appear within your database, but selecting this feature makes it happen immediately.

To use DogPak, you must EXPORT LINES.TXT and SETUP.TXT files so these may be used by DogPak.  In order for you to do this, you can use the FILE Menu Bar item, then "EXPORT RACING DATA".

It is beyond the scope of our User's Guide to show users how to use ANY THIRD PARTY software product.  You might find help either by reading the documentation provided with those programs, or by asking other QuickDog users on our forum.
